Kuwait bans TV comedy satirizing government officials
A Kuwaiti human rights group has urged the government to withdraw its decision to ban a TV comedy which makes fun of officials in parliament.
The Kuwait Human Rights Society said the ban placed on the series Soatak Wassal was "a flagrant violation of freedom of expression".
But in a comic move likely to further the row, the channel responsible for the program has given its own response to the ban, rebroadcasting it under a different name, "Ammak Asmakh".

انتقدت الجمعية الكويتية لحقوق الإنسان قرار ايقاف برنامج «صوتك وصل» الذي كانت تبثه قناة «سكوب» وقالت: «كيف يمكن أن يتخذ قرار مثل هذا في بلد مثل الكويت التي اعتاد شعبها، منذ بداية العهد الدستوري في البلاد عام 1962، أن يتمتع بحرية الرأي والتعبير والتفكير الحر وانتاج الأعمال الفنية المتنوعة دون حظر؟».
